Gardening by the Moon
(from the book by patricia telesco)

Long ago farmers would plant according to the phase of the moon, many modern day witches also follow this tried and true custom with excellent results!

Waxing moon-Plant above ground vegetation, such as celery, asparagus, cabbage, herbs and flowering plants.

Full moon-Peppers, pumpkins, tomatoes, melons, flowering vines and garlic

Waning moon-Peas, or underground vegetation such as carrots, potatoes, radishes and bulb flowers

Dark moon-Time to weed and turn the soil!

Just a little bit more detail!!

Moon in Aries-Plant only garlic and onions

Moon in Taurus-Root crops, such as potatoes, and leafy crops

Moon in Gemini-Weed and cultivate, planting not recommended!

Moon in Cancer-Graft, Transplant and sow

Moon in Leo-use insect banishing formula (at bottom of page)

Moon in Libra-Flowers, root crops, vines, lettuce, corn, vine producing plants.

Moon in Scorpio-Any type of plantings

Banishing bugs

Prepare tea of-catnip, coriander, nasturtium petals, tansy, marigold, rue, onion, garlic, tomato leaves, sage or thyme.

Use 4oz. of each herb (any combination of herbs that total 4 oz. steeped in 8oz. water, the stronger the aroma the better. Keep stored in fridge if you don't use all, if it turns cloudy discard it! Prepare during waning moon, banishing properties , stir mixture clockwise and say:

Bugs be gone, only helpful ones stay
By my will go away

Sprinkle over your garden again moving clockwise, repeat this process if it rains, or if you notice the aroma diminishing!
